Minimap
The minimap gives a compact overview of the current thumbnail layout and helps you navigate large grids quickly.
What the minimap is for
When a folder contains many scans, the thumbnail area can become much larger than the visible window. The minimap helps you:
- see roughly where you are in the current grid
- jump to another region of the dataset
- keep spatial context while browsing large folders
Typical workflow
Use the thumbnail grid for precise selection, and use the minimap for fast coarse navigation.
A common pattern is:
- Scroll or zoom through the grid.
- Use the minimap to jump to another region.
- Click the target thumbnail to load it into the main preview.
Relationship to the grid
The minimap does not replace the main thumbnail grid. It mirrors the current browsing layout and is most useful when the visible area shows only a small part of the full set.
Selections, preview loading, and pop-out actions still happen in the main grid.
Tips
Tip
If you are working with spectroscopy-heavy folders, use the minimap to navigate to the relevant image region, then use the main grid or spectroscopy markers for precise selection.
Tip
The minimap is most helpful after loading large folders where the main grid would otherwise require lots of manual scrolling.
